      The role of the Marketing team is to guide the direction of Mercy Corps global brand and develop and implement strategies to promote brand awareness and drive a sustainable base of unrestricted financial support, particularly among mass-market supporter audiences.

      The Role

      The Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for planning and implementing digital fundraising and engagement strategies to connect donors, prospective donors, and other key constituents to Mercy Corps through online platforms, with a primary focus on paid and organic social media networks. This position works with multiple internal teams, as well as with our external digital fundraising agency partner, to develop strategic guidance and recommendations, then turn those into audience engagement, lead generation, and fundraising success. They are responsible for managing the creation ofu00A0 opportunities to extend the Mercy Corps brand through organic and paid media channels, and for using social analytics tools to understand the impact of campaigns and investments.

      Essential Responsibilities

      STRATEGY

      • With the Director of Direct Marketing, lead on planning and implementing annual and multi-year strategies to maximize audience growth, community engagement, and achieving fundraising goals, ensuring that acquisition, conversion, retention, and upgrade strategies are executed efficiently, accurately, and with a focus on the donor experience.
      • Look for opportunities to create cross-channel experiences and align online and offline direct marketing programs to create audience-focused experiences.
      • Guide, review, and assess annual, quarterly, and monthly channel plans for organic social and paid media, some developed in partnership with digital fundraising agency, recommend refinements and optimizations. Analyze results and develop iterations in pursuit of continued success.
      • Research and identify current and emerging trends in digital paid media programs, online marketing, fundraising, and user behavior, and bring new ideas to the team. Stay up-to-date on platform changes, emerging platforms, new technologies, and industry best practices.

      CONTENT CREATION AND CHANNEL MANAGEMENT

      • Manage digital fundraising agency adaptation of strategies into specific documented plans that include timelines, content strategy, channel selection, offers, ask strings, segmentation, testing and projected response rates and revenue. Maintain fundraising guidelines/standards and offer compliance.
      • Guide paid media content creation in coordination with other fundraising channels and brand content strategy; manage ads ideation and creation process with digital fundraising agency and internal Creative Team.
      • Oversee paid media ad placement executed by digital agency partner, review targeting and optimization strategies, collaborate on iterative refinements to campaigns.
      • Lead development of comprehensive organic social media strategy in partnership with Direct Marketing leadership, oversee management of organic social media editorial calendar, planning and execution, and community management to further strategic goals.
      • Ensure excellent program quality by regularly monitoring, troubleshooting issues, and reviewing all content elements and ad placements for accuracy and function; regularly evaluate paid media systems and processes to ensure maximum efficiency and revenue.
      • With the Director of Direct Marketing, support the development of annual budgets, revenue and new donor acquisition goals; maintain the projection, tracking, and approval of expenses.
      • Work with Director of Direct Marketing and Development Operations team members to assess and implement improvements to existing back-end processes and procedures, including invoice reconciliation and payment options with vendors.

      ANALYTICS AND REPORTING

      • Analyze and report on progress to goals and effectiveness of specific channels, campaigns, platforms, tactics, and vendor performance; adapt plans based on analysis.
      • Regularly provide lead generation and fundraising analytics reporting to Director of Direct Marketing, Managing Director - Marketing, and senior Marketing leadership as requested.

      CROSS-TEAM SUPPORT

      • Optimize opportunities between Mercy Corpsu2019 Organic Social Media and Paid Media programs, repurposing content, sharing audience, and boosting organic content for visibility and engagement.
      • Collaborate with Email Marketing Manager and Direct Mail Manager to ensure cross-channel alignment in our user experience. Look for opportunities to co-target or create moments of content alignment.
      • Cross-train on email marketing processes to provide business continuity coverage.

      Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work.       Minimum Qualifications & Transferable Skills

      • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or other relevant field, or equivalent experience.
      • 5+ years of paid social media experience that demonstrates progressive levels of responsibility and expertise, preferably with experience in nonprofit fundraising including a thorough understanding of fundraising practices and ethics.
      • Deep understanding of the paid social media universe, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, as well as video-based platforms, emerging platforms, and fixed-cost lead generation, familiarity with digital ad co-ops a plus.
      • Strong analytical skills and a bias toward data-driven decision-making to design solutions and to adapt those solutions in response to new/additional data. Experience analyzing and reporting on data; data organization and visualization.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to think strategically.
      • Exceptional attention to detail.
      • Experience working with digital marketing agencies preferred.
      • Some evening and weekend work may be required, particularly in emergency response moments.
